Virgin Beach Hotel: Static Pile Load Test Confirming Foundation Reliability in Bali

Static load pile test

As part of our construction management strategy for the Virgin Beach Hotel, we conducted a Static Axial Compressive Load Test (Static Load Test) on the foundation piles to validate, in real site conditions, the engineering calculations and the conclusions of the geotechnical investigations regarding soil density and bearing capacity.

The testing was carried out by PT Testindo, one of Indonesia’s leading companies specializing in geotechnical and pile testing services.

Testindo was selected based on a tender and our internal rules for selecting reliable contractors.

This testing stage is a critical element of professional construction management in Bali, especially for large-scale hotel projects located in complex coastal and geological environments.

The test program was conducted from December 24, 2025 to January 5, 2026.

Static load pile test

Three test piles were selected for the procedure. Each pile was loaded gradually according to SNI (Indonesian National Standard) requirements, starting from 25% and increasing up to 200% of the design load.

Each loading stage was maintained under constant pressure for a controlled period, with full monitoring of pile settlement behavior.

This methodology allows us to confirm:

  • The real bearing capacity of the piles
  • The interaction between piles and soil layers
  • The accuracy of the structural engineering design
  • The reliability of geological survey conclusions

 

Construction risk management

 

During the test, each pile was subjected to a total loading cycle lasting up to 36 hours, including progressive loading, holding phases, and unloading stages.

High-precision instruments measured vertical displacement (settlement) continuously, allowing engineers to analyze both elastic and permanent deformation behavior.

Virgin beach hotel construction

The results confirmed excellent foundation performance:

  • Observed pile settlement ranged between 5 mm and 17 mm
  • Maximum allowable settlement according to SNI is 25 mm

This means that all tested piles performed significantly better than the regulatory limits, providing strong confirmation of the foundation design reliability and soil bearing capacity.
